Amit Kapadia (Chair)

Amit Kapadia has chaired the “Humanitarian Relief Committee” since June 2018. In 2019, Amit has been working with UNA USA to expand the committee membership, and to expand it’s project portfolio. Since the beginning of 2017, Amit has led consultations with UN Office of Legal Affairs, UN Office of Partnerships and UN Department of Public Information to develop this initiative.

Amit holds a MA in International Relations and a MS in Environmental Engineering and has a decade of experience as an executive in international relief and development. Amit is also the Executive Director of The Unforgotten, a field agency that implements WASH, education and self-help projects in UN refugee camps.

Peter L. René

Peter L. René (Chief Financial Officer)

Peter is the Chief Financial Officer(CFO) of Fund The UN. Peter has over 15 years of executive management experience in the non-profit sector. He has an expertise in financial management, grant writing, and fundraising development. Peter has a special interest in the Caribbean. Mr. René has an MA in Law and Public Policy and a BA in Political Science and Law.

Ronald Quejas-Risdon

 

Ronald Quejas-Risdon

Ronald started off his career in the Peace Corps in Colombia. He completed graduate studies in Social Anthropology and Labor Relations and lectured at various colleges and universities. Ronald served as a Labor Negotiator, Human Resource Director and Court Appointed Mediator from 1980-1993. He joined the United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations in 1993, and served as a Senior Administrative Officer and Head-of-Office in high profile and frequently hazardous assignments including Somalia, Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan and Sudan. Although officially retired from fulltime work at the UN in 2009, Ronald continues with special assignments to East Timor, Democratic Republic of Congo and Sudan. He recently published a second book on peacekeeping, and maintains a blog viewing the global community through the eyes of a Peacekeeper. Ronald is active in the United Nations Association belonging to chapters in the US and the UK.

John Dalton

 

 

 

John Dalton

John Dalton currently serves as the Regional Representative and National Council Member of the United Nations Association. He is the former Chairman and current Vice-Chairman of the Human Relations Commission of the City of Tucson in the State of Arizona and previously served as Human Relations Commissioner of the City of Livonia in the State of Michigan. In 2019, Mr. Dalton spoke before the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva regarding the rights of the child and global access to education. In March of 2020, he was nominated and commissioned a Kentucky Colonel for his contributions to global cooperation and human rights by the Commonwealth’s Governor and on September 28, 2020, Mr. Dalton was appointed by the President of the United States to the U.S. Selective Service Board. He is an active member of the Arizona-Mexico Commission, Tucson Committee on Foreign Relations, and is on the Board of Advisors of the Consular Corps of Arizona. He attended Schoolcraft College and The University of Arizona where he completed his studies in Alternative Dispute Resolution with a specialization in Mediation.

Aaisha Bhuiyan is a Bangladeshi-American. She holds a bachelors in Marketing from Penn State University, presently works as an Account Executive at Amazon and is a city ambassador for the United State of Women, an organization that amplifies the work of leaders on the forefront of gender equity and community development.

Nahiyan Naser is a computer science graduate with a passion for entrepreneurship. He has been involved in the development sector since high-school and has conducted projects dealing with Water, Sanitation, Womens Empowerment, MHM and Mental Health in Bangladesh.
